1. Tongues are a Spiritual gift.
a. They are sovereignly given. 12:11
Not given as a result of seeking or learning. It is not a special endowment following a desire and wait for it.
b. They are not given to every Christian. 12:30
Tongues cannot be a sign of or evidence of salvation. Tongues are not a mark of spirituality.
2. There is absolutely no indication that the gift of tongues at Corinth is different than the tongues of Acts.
Whatever tongues were in Acts, they were in Corinth
Whatever they were in Corinth, they would need to be today (if they were still given to the church)
