First Love

Christ wants us to live our lives with "first love." In the Book of Revelation Christ writes to seven churches. The church at Ephesus while busy in good works and doctrinally sound was told by Christ that they had left their first love, but it can be recovered.

What is "first love?"

1. It has to be something they knew, and they knew they were missing.

2. It is something more than:

  • busy activity in good works
  • doctrinal soundness and a stand for the truth
  • personal disdain for evil and separation from it
  • successful endurance of trial

3. It is something that can be left and not affect my position in Christ.

4. It is something that can be left without realizing I left it.

5. It is something that can be recovered, but it can only be recovered God's way.

6. It is something that is costly to live without.
