A Fresh Vision of the Kind of Life God Wants Us to Live
We urgently need a fresh vision of the kind of life God wants us, as Christians, to live. Dr. Les Ollila once stated that "the average Christian is so subnormal that the normal Christian appears abnormal." It is possible for us to grow content, satisfied, and comfortable with our spiritual lives, but is this what God wants? This message introduces a new series where we will examine the Scriptures to get a "fresh vision" of how God intends for us to live.
We need to check our lives and guard ourselves against growing content with lives that are less than what God intends:
1. I should not be content to live unto myself.
2 Corinthians 5:15
2. I should not be content to live the life I used to live or that the world now lives.
Ephesians 2:2-4; 4:17-20; 4:22-32; 5:3-5,8; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11; 1 Thessalonians 4:1-4
3. I should not be content with my present spiritual walk if I am "coasting" or just being "pulled along."
Philippians 1:27; 2:12; 3:12-14; Hebrews 5:11 "dull" = "no push."
4. I should not be content with just going through the motions of Christianity, being doctrinally sound and laboring in service, but having no vibrancy.
Cp. Revelation 3:1-3; 2:2-6
5. I should not be content with earthly prosperity, confusing it with God's blessing.
Revelation 3:15-20
6. I should not be content to simply name the name of Christ, but not be a disciple.
